Repository - a centralized database stored on a computer that houses specific information. Slack Space -Since space is allocated on electronic media in fixed-size clusters, there is usually a small amount of unused, allocated space past the end of the file that can contain data from the file that previously occupied the space. This space is referred to as slack space and can be examined using forensic tools. Spoliation - generally, the intentional or negligent destruction or alteration of evidence when there is current litigation or an investigation, or there is reasonable anticipation that either may occur in the near future. Some jurisdictions also define it as a failure to preserve information that may become evidence. TIFF - (Tagged Image File Format) a widely used bit-mapped graphics file format. This format comes in numerous variants, but the most common one is Group IV. TIFF files can be created at any resolution, but in order for the file to be considered an accurate representation of the original it should be at least 200 dots per inch. Unallocated Space - The space on electronic media that is not currently used by any file. This space can potentially contain data from files which previously occupied it, and can be examined using forensic tools.
