TRUE Native Review Print E-mail

True Native Review Inspicio® is the first and only document review platform of its kind to offer TRUE integrated native review.

When a Reviewer requests a document, Inspicio® seamlessly launches the appropriate application it was created in and displays it.  Reviewers can access all aspects of the original files including dynamic capabilities and attributes such as formulae, column width and hidden text that would not be available to them with other review platforms.  Since the applications are installed and licensed on our Inspicio® Review servers, there’s no need to deal with the effort and expense of maintaining a traditional native review site.  We also understand that security and spoliation is a major concern, especially when dealing with native files; with Inspicio®, documents cannot be modified or saved at any time and metadata is kept pristinely intact.

Simply put, TRUE Native Review is secure, reliable access to any document type, from any place, at any time.  Inspicio® allows users to enjoy the benefits of cost avoidance and accuracy afforded by native review, while solving the inherent security and licensing issues.

Tiff ReviewDozens of document review platforms claim to offer “native review,” but there is an important distinction to be made between “true native" and “near-native” technologies.
Traditionally, all of the programs needed to open each of the file types included in a document collection had to be available for every reviewing attorney.  The software licensing costs alone are formidable, and few organizations can afford the time and money needed to manage the ongoing updates, licensing and maintenance issues.
In response, creators of document review platforms have developed various methods of processing the native files so that they can be accessed by a single, common application.  Typically, the format of choice is TIFF – when a file is requested by a reviewer, the review platform launches one of a collection of conversion processes which transform the native file into an image “on-the-fly.”  The review platform is then able to display the image in a common TIFF viewer – no special software required.  In addition, others have tried to use HTML formatting to show a depiction of a native file but still fail to show the original file.

Such “near-native” technologies face a serious shortcoming, however – by processing the files, they render the files’ dynamic capabilities and attributes such as formulae, column width and hidden text inaccessible.  In effect, near-native platforms present a frozen snapshot of the data, not the true, native data itself.
