Tag Rules Print E-mail

All document review platforms exist to serve two basic actions:  searching for specific words or phrases within a document, and marking documents that meet the specified criteria with a common identifier.

Generally speaking, these identifiers are variously referred to as markers, folders, tags, flags and a host of other proprietary terms devised by individual platform publishers.

Inspicio® employs the term “tag” to denote a unique identifier that can be applied to one or many documents.  Tags are commonly applied in order to differentiate documents that meet specific criteria from the general document population.  Typically, criteria that are relevant in the discovery phase impose one or more states, or classifications, on subsets of the document population that is being reviewed.

Real-time validation

Tag Validation One serious shortcoming of existing document review platforms is their inability to check for inconsistencies or contradictions between states – for example, a document that is tagged as both Responsive and Not Responsive at the same time.  In order to address this issue, Inspicio implements the concept of tag rules.  This feature imposes pre-defined logic on the assignment of tags, and affords the review supervisor the ability to customize the logic that is used on a per-tag basis.

When a Reviewer applies a tag that produces a contradiction, Inspicio provides an error link and steps required to correct the problem.

New! in version 2.0:
Review Supervisors now have the option of creating Halt Rules to enforce consistent tagging.  If an attorney tries to apply tags in a manner that will violate the Halt Rule, Inspicio® will discard the tag and display a notification to the user.

This simple feature allows supervisors to prevent non-compliant tag usage before it happens, dramatically reducing the need for review QC and corrective action.
